So it looks like in the last voting round, "24/7 Custom Mods" won out nearly 3-to-1 against anything else. So since there are so many mods to choose from, and we did pick 24/7, let's pick WHICH mod we want. NOTE: Unless one of these mods gets at least 50% of the vote, we'll be doing another runoff vote. Before you vote, take a moment to take a look at the most popular mods available. Advanced Weaponizer: A mod that uses a completely different set of unlockable weapons(list of current weapons) with gameplay otherwise unchanged. This mod has a very active community dedicated to it, and could bring us some serious traffic. I can't think of a downside for this mod. Pyro Dodgeball: All players are pyros, and the point it to murder other players by reflecting rockets that appear from the sky. Rockets get faster over time until everyone is dead. This is a good "in-between" mod, and a lot of people spend 10-30 minutes playing before moving on to other games. This could be a good way to forward them on to our other servers. The free version of this Mod includes like 3 maps, they have a sort of low production value. Also the fact that it's arena mode means people leave quickly. Prophunt: This is hide & seek. One team is pyros, and the other is scouts with their models changed into a number of props. Scouts hide, while pyros try to find them. Lots of people like this map, and lots of people know it. If someone has had a Mod experience, chances are good that it's with prophunt. Lighthearted gameplay means it's easy to not get burnt out. Arena mode & light gameplay full of inactivity means it's easy to get bored. Turnover is medium. TF2Ware: think Warioware meets TF2. You go through a lot of simon says, type the answer to the question, and a couple fun boss stages. Similarly to prophunt, this is lighthearted fun, and a good distraction for 30 minutes or so. This is probably the furthest from TF2 regular gameplay that mods get. Sometimes it doesn't work, and only about 1/2 of the minigames are operational at any one time. VS Saxton Hale: One team consists of normal players, the other consists of SAXTON HALE! He is similar to the headless horesmann, except he is controlled by a player. He is amazingly overpowered, but can only melee. It's very similar to playing other boss maps: Mann Manor & Eyeduct. This is a lot of fun, and a good game to jump into. It's very fair to both teams, and very fast paced. It also works on a lot of KOTH maps. It occasionally(uncommonly) breaks, and is kinda easy to get burnt out on. It is a KOTH map afterall ^_^. Zombiefortress: There are two opposing teams: the Survivors (Red), trying to cap a point of flag, and the Zombies (Blu), who wish to eat the Survivors. Survivors are limited to Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Engineer, Medic, Sniper and get regular weapons. Zombies are limited to Scout, Heavy, and Spy, and get melee weapons, and most lunchbox items. This has a variety of maps, and is LOTS of fun. It fills quickly, and stays filled on its own easily. It's easy to play this mod for hours. I can't think of a downside for this mod.
I HIGHLY suggest zombiefortress. Given that out biggest issue is filling our server & keeping it full, zombiefortress fits perfectly. It's easy to start with 1 or two people, and very easily stays full on its own. I have spent hours on this game mode, and it doesn't really burn you out too quickly.
Yeah, I'm with Valkyrie on this. I can't say enough good things about Zombie Fortress. It's by no means perfect or the absolute most fun ever, but I do think it's one of the most solid mods out there.
Damn it. I missed the part I bolded/italicized. I can't un-vote buuuuuuuut if I could I'd vote for this instead bahaha. Instead of pyro dodgeball. I was more going for "which of these mods do I like most" vs "which of these mods would keep people on the server"....oops. Alcohol makes people selfish.
