Long story: Over the holidays, i developed thrush on my tongue. If you don't know what thrush is, it is white patches on the tongue. I pretty much lost all taste for food. While researching it I learned that it could be a sign of being a diabetic. I went to the doc and they tested my blood sugar. It was 414. My blood was liquid Pixi Stick. I was a pre-diabetic back in high school and got it under control in college. Since my sugar was so high they sent me to the ER, about a 10 minute drive away. By the time I got to the ER, it was already down to 388. They put three IV's through me and brought it down to about 280. Being the holidays, it was impossible to make another appointment until after the first of the year. Luckily my Aunt had a kit and I checked it on Christmas Day and it was at 191. Still high. I did manage to get in to see a doc on the 30th and it was back up at 260. I went to the diabetic clinic today, and they tested it. 75 It is going to take a lot of work to get this under control, i need to exercise more and eat better. My life depends on it. With that being said, I need to take a break from gaming and my BoC family until i can get this under control. I dont think I will ever leave BoC, just need to do this for myself and my family. I have joined a gym, am checking my blood sugar everyday and taking my meds. I will keep you all posted! Rags
I wish you all the luck in the world with this. I am a type 1 diabetic, so I have to take insulin. I figure it's probably easier to be type 1 and just take the shots than it is to have to depend on oral meds that aren't perfectly predictable and eating and exercising to keep things under control. At least with the shots you can count the number of grams of carbohydrates and just give yourself the right amount of insulin to counteract them. If you treat diabetes like a scientific study, then you'll have no problems. You just need to experiment to find out how much exercise it takes to lower your sugar, how much food it takes to raise you sugar, and how well the meds control the baseline blood sugar.
I know you shall get it under control mine has been high, but is remaining under control sort of with meds and such. But those readings the high ones are very dangerous. Keep us posted and take care of yourself.
Heal up Rags...I have had thrush all the way down my throat it hurt like hell...as far as the blood sugar...I cannot say...but I will be wishing the best for you man!
I once drank an XXL orange juice when I was sick on my way to the doctor. When I got to the doctor I had to take a urine test to try to see what was wrong with me. I has so much sugar in my system from the OJ I was basically peeing sugar. Doctor could not figure out why my blood sugar was so high and I was peeing sugar. I finally put 2 and 2 together and told him it might be that. Get it under control rag its serious. I dont want to find you dead in a ditch like Ohio....unless it was me who put you there
