Letting It All Hang Out: My Beef With BF3

    1. LOAD TIMES
God awful. I am not just talking about the game itself either. Origin takes about a month to load, and it is just loading a page in a browser! More on that later. Once I get the fucking webpage loaded, and I start to load up the MP or SP it takes butt fucking ages to load. I have Comcast cable at 20 meg. There is 0 reason it should take a game that long to load. MW3 loads without a fight, lickity split. I am in game and pwning in no time. This needs to be addressed and fixed ASAP.

    2. SINGLE PLAYER
Controls: I finally figured out my mouse binding issue, my fault, but then again their system is about as intuitive as driving a tank blindfolded. After I got everything setup the way i like it, the game says "Ha! Fuck you and your custom controls! During QTE's you have to use the melee we pre-defined! And you will just sit there and take it, getting killed because we decided to change buttons on you." Seriously. Also in QTE's if you dont hit the melee button and the exact instant the game tells you too, you get stabbed and die and have to start over. But Wait, There's more!!! It doesn't start you back just before the fight, it starts you about 30 seconds to a minute back! So after you die a million times, you have to wait 30 seconds to a minute a million times!!! FUN!

Dialogue: "Hey fucker, you want to fucking kill some fucking fucks while they're fucking sitting around doing fucking nothing?" "That's a fucking fifty!" this says fuck more times than a romance novel says penis. Fucking awful.

    3. MULTIPLAYER
Maps: These maps are enormous, which was a selling point for the developers. But I feel like I am starting off in Guatamala and walking to friggin Boston just to get shot, not see where it came from, and spawn back in Guatamala. Sometimes I get to spawn on teammates in Orlando, sure its closer but still pretty far away. Also be sure to beware, when you spawn in Orlando with your chums you can bet you left nut that there will be an enemy, tank, or sniper right on top of you to make sure you dont spawn in Orlando again.

Graphics: I had no idea humvee's were made of cardboard. I also had no idea that our troops were issued plastic airsoft guns. Because that is sure what they look like. I saw a sniper charging his bolt on his rifle, just his hand moved, not the bolt. Its like someone turned clipping off on the weapons, they magically disappear as limbs move and move about.

Other players: You can bet your right nut that if you get into a vehicle and you are not the one driving, one of the following will happen: 1) "Fuck the game, were going off roading like i do in my bronco!!! Yeee HAW!" 2) "Umm can you get out and get the winch? Don't mind the snipers, they are nice folk around here" 3) "We need to get to A." "Yeah I know a shortcut, right off the side of this cliff and or interstate." 4)"We need to get to A." "Yeah, were are going to go all the way around the map, it may take 13 hours, but no one will see us!" 5) "BUMPER CARS!!!!" 6) You get cut off more than an asian chick on the freeway. 7) "I didn't know your grandmother played this game?"

    4. ORIGIN
The Browser: Really? you make us download a shit program that manages nothing other than a list of our games, and everything else is through a browser? I truly feel sorry for all you IE people out there. What is the point of origin? Seriously?

Updating Origin: I have to RESTART my browser for every update... FUCK ME.

Not Steam: It isn't and that is its biggest downfall. Thousands of gamers use steam for everything to message, manage the clans, and connect! This is just a huge slap in the face to all the gamers and we all just took and happily went on while...

    5. EA
While... EA is selling our info and god knows what else is in that shitty EULA...

    Evil. Tricksy. Bastards.

Modern Warfare 3 is easy to run and is smooth. I was running it with a eVGA 9800CTX Superclocked edition on high and I had no lag. I'm running an old Quad-Core also.

EA also release this huge patches also for their games... I remember a BF2 patch being over 2GB in size... it ridiculous...

    sorry... just my 2 cents

I've been enjoying BF3 so far. The web browser interface really is pretty terrible (and so is Origin), but usually I just get into a server and stick with it for the entire time I play, so no exiting and having to find a new server, etc. The classes are about the same as BF2, so there's not a lot of extra learning going on there (had it on Xbox 360). The map sizes are great, I usually stick to 64 player servers and the huge maps. It can be a pain if you get stuck at your initial respawn without a vehicle around, but otherwise I find it's not that tough to get into the action, especially if you spawn on your squad members.

I'm not on a particularly new computer, but it runs well on whatever the default settings are. There's some graphical goofiness, but no more so than most other games I play. I'll settle for it looking a little weird sometimes for all the cool stuff that can happen with vehicles and exploding buildings.

I played the single player for about 20 minutes, and I don't know that I'll ever go back to it. It's not what I bought it for anyways.

I know a group of people who play MW3 on PS3, so I might pick it up for that at some point, I'm sure it's great too.

My intent here was to vent, i feel like i blew 60 bucks that could have been spent on map packs for MW3 (see i can make fun of it too). I had high hopes for BF3, and maybe that is the problem, It let me down hard...

Thank you vet for wanting to support us, even if there are only two or three that really play this game religiously.

Hazard's comment speaks volumes. I wish they had a demo for you buddy, you might like it.

When I decide to invest in one of these games it will be MW3. I have heard a lot of bad things about BF3 as this article supports. Also MW3 being on Steam a good selling point for a causal gamer such as myself.

ahh that splash screen... I have my bookmark directly set to the forums lol. I like it thought. Para.. you won't regret getting MW3.

I will confess thought... I bought BF3 tonight to see for myself how it is. People have told me negative things about both BF3 and MW3 and I like MW3 finally.. so I figured I would try BF3... besides I had some spare money lol

Nope, not my talent. Cant remember who gave this psd, was prob monie or one of the other old members when we were looking at changing the boc logo

Ok, your getting me scared here, I am getting my new computer next week and planned on getting BF3 the moment the computer arrives. My wife told me today that I can have both BF3 and MW3 but one might have to wait a month, with that said I am conflicted on which to buy first. I think I shall keep with purchasing BF3 and then get MW3 as some in the clan seem to be getting MW3 so I can play both sooner or later.

Just remember Prince that you need something powerfull to play BF3
  18. Hallucin8 BOC Clan Member

His new Alienware PC should be up to the task. It at least came with a Geforce 560Ti.
  19. Night Stalker BOC Clan Member

That's the same card I recently bought... works well
  20. PrinceofHonor Operations

When looking for a new tower I had the game requirements openned so it should play at least min. if not the max.

Get BF3 first if you're wanting to play multiplayer, Prince. It's far superior, in my opinion. Many more options, and much more intense...Modern Warfare's multiplayer has always been a bore to me.

However, the single player is 1000% better in MW3, and the Special Ops missions are awesome, especially when playing with a friend in co-op.
