Great topic. Probably the best film ever for so many reasons was Gettysburg. It's one of the few movies about war which is about ideology behind it, and not just mindless violence. I only ever watch it alone. It can bring a tear to your eye. If you haven't seen it, you are missing out. It is full of amazing monologues. Here are two of my favourites by Col. Joshua Chamberlain (Jeff Daniels). The first one takes place when he addresses a regiment of mutineers put under his command.
